§ How we operate

We're a broker, not a carrier.

GMF Auto Transport LLC (MC-1675078, DOT 4301133) is a licensed FMCSA property broker. We do not own trucks. We connect you with vetted carriers from the FMCSA-authorized network and coordinate the shipment from quote to delivery.

Bonded and on file with the public record.

We maintain a $75,000 BMC-84 surety bond on file with U.S. Specialty Insurance Company. Every carrier we book is required to be FMCSA-authorized and to carry valid cargo insurance — we share the certificate with you before pickup.

Typical transit: 48 days from pickup.

What to know about this route

  • Northeast to Florida is one of the highest-volume auto transport corridors in the U.S. — carrier availability is generally strong, especially in summer.
  • Snowbird season (Oct–Dec southbound, Mar–May northbound) doubles route demand and tightens carrier capacity. Book at least 2 weeks ahead in those windows.
  • Pickup in dense Connecticut suburbs (Stamford, Greenwich, Fairfield) sometimes requires a smaller truck for narrow streets — confirm during quoting.
  • Florida deliveries below Miami (Keys, Marathon) typically add 1–2 days and a small per-mile surcharge.
§ Frequently asked

About this route

How long does Connecticut to Florida car shipping take?

Most carriers complete this route in 4–8 days from pickup to delivery. Off-season (June–September) tends to be on the faster end; snowbird season can stretch to the longer end because of higher route volume.

When is the cheapest time to ship from Connecticut to Florida?

Late spring through early fall (roughly May–September). Snowbird season — October through December and March through May — runs 15–25% higher because demand exceeds carrier capacity on the corridor.

Can a carrier pick up at my home in Connecticut?

Yes, door-to-door is the standard. The exception is narrow residential streets or HOA restrictions where a 75-foot car-hauler can't safely maneuver — in those cases the carrier will arrange a meeting spot at a nearby parking lot.

Do you ship to the Florida Keys?

Yes. Deliveries past Homestead (Marathon, Key West, etc.) typically add 1–2 days and a route surcharge that varies by carrier. We'll confirm both before booking.

About auto transport

Are you a broker or a carrier?

GMF Auto Transport LLC is a licensed FMCSA property broker (MC-1675078, DOT 4301133). We do not own trucks. We connect you with vetted, insured carriers from the FMCSA-authorized network and coordinate the shipment.

How is pricing determined?

Indicative estimates are based on typical market rates for your route, distance, vehicle type, and transport type (open vs. enclosed). Final pricing is set by the carrier we book and depends on real-time carrier availability, fuel costs, route, and timing. We confirm an exact quote before you commit.

Are pickup and delivery dates guaranteed?

No. We give you an estimated pickup window and an estimated transit window — these are typical for the route, not guarantees. Auto transport is subject to weather, traffic, mechanical issues, and carrier scheduling. Anyone who guarantees dates in this industry is being dishonest.

Is my vehicle insured during transport?

Federal law requires every motor carrier we book to carry cargo insurance. We require carriers in our network to provide a current insurance certificate before dispatching a load. Coverage details (limits, deductibles, exclusions) vary by carrier — we share the certificate before pickup so you can review it. GMF Auto Transport LLC also maintains a $75,000 BMC-84 surety bond on file with U.S. Specialty Insurance Company.

Can I leave personal items in the car?

Many carriers allow limited personal items, often around 100 lbs in the trunk only, but the final allowance depends on the assigned carrier and must be confirmed before pickup. Most carriers prohibit valuables, firearms, and anything visible above the window line. Items in the vehicle are not covered by the carrier's cargo insurance.
